Release Notes May 2026

What's new?

Written by Oliver Schallehn

Highlights

  • Extended support for maritime and geospatial file formats

  • Vertical CRS and compound CRS handling

  • Improvements for geodatabase visualization and metadata handling

  • SEGY viewer enhancements

  • General map and rendering performance improvements

New Features

Extended File Format Support

Support for additional file formats has been introduced to improve compatibility with a wider range of data sources and workflows.

  • 83P
83P files can now be ingested and processed within the platform, enabling support for this MBES format used by SEABER AUV systems.

  • PTS Support Extended
The platform now detects and supports .pts files containing only X, Y, and Z columns.

  • ASX Files Recognized as XML
When ASX files are uploaded as auxiliary files, for example alongside MP4 files, they are now automatically recognized and handled as XML files.

  • BAG (Bathymetry Attributed Grid)

Support for the BAG (Bathymetric Attributed Grid) format has been added.

BAG is an HDF5-based container format designed to store gridded bathymetric data together with metadata such as elevation, uncertainty, CRS information, spacing, and bounding boxes.

  • Support for OASIS File Formats

Added support for selected OASIS montaj file formats commonly used in geophysical and geospatial workflows.

    Supported formats include:

    • GRD (grid-based raster datasets)

    • MAP (map and layer configuration files)

    • GPF (plot and visualization files)

These additions allow more data types to be integrated directly into platform workflows.

Vertical CRS

Support for vertical coordinate reference systems (CRS) has been added.

This includes:

  • handling of separate horizontal and vertical CRS definitions

  • support for compound CRS

  • selection of compound CRS directly within the platform

The selected target CRS is now also visualized in the point cloud viewer.

Improvements

User Interface and Usability

Metadata View

The “Show more” button in the Metadata tab is now automatically displayed when text content (e.g. for a custom CRS) exceeds three lines.

Improved LAS/LAZ Feature Selection on Maps

The feature information dialog for LAS/LAZ datasets on maps can now also be opened by clicking anywhere inside the dataset bounding box.

Previously, interaction was limited to the bounding box frame only.

Optimized Breadcrumb Navigation

Breadcrumb handling has been improved for:

  • deep folder structures

  • long path names

  • abbreviation handling

Improved Vector Styling Workflow

Vector styling settings have been optimized for:

  • faster visualization updates

  • improved color picker behavior

  • improved usability during styling configuration

File Management Improvements

Improved Geodatabase Tree View

For geodatabases, the left-side tree view now displays the logical layer structure directly.

Previously, individual internal files of the geodatabase were shown. Displaying the contained layers instead provides a clearer and more useful overview of available datasets and structures.

Improved Coordinate Validation During Geotagging

When manually assigning coordinates during geotagging, the platform now provides an extended validation message if coordinates fall outside the valid boundaries of the selected CRS.

Extended File Handling

SEGY Viewer Improvements

The SEGY viewer now supports separate zoom levels for vertical and horizontal scaling.

Performance Improvements

General Rendering and Map Performance

General layer processing, rendering performance, and overall map responsiveness have been improved across the platform.
