What are projects

The abiltiy to create Projects enables users to organize their data into distinct domains, facilitating thematic or organizational structures tailored to your specific needs. Each project acts as an isolated environment where users can categorize and manage their data. This compartmentalization enhances focus and efficiency, ensuring that information is contextually relevant and easily accessible.

Projects support individual access rights, allowing administrators to assign permissions based on roles and responsibilities. This ensures that sensitive data is protected, and users have access only to the information pertinent to their work.

By providing a structured and secure way to manage data, "projects" allows teams to collaborate more effectively, streamline workflows, and maintain organizational coherence across diverse activities.

Where can I find my project

Projects can be created by users with the designated permission. The projects are listed in the Projects section reachable by clicking “Projects” in the Navigation Bar on the left of the screen. Projects can be Accessible, Unaccessible or Invisible. The latter applies to Guest users that need to be invited to a project before being able to see it. To get access to a project, a user needs to be invited by a project administrator (see ‘Add a project member’ article for details).

What does a project contain

Projects consist of various sections that can be found in the tabs on the top of the project view. They consist of Project Information, Files, Uploads, Shares and Users.

The “Info” section gives an overview of Project Name, Project Size, Description and the Project Area Extend. When permissions are provided, these fields can also be edited.

The “Upload” section provides an overview of currently active upload channels.

The “Shares” section provide an overview of currently shared files.

The “Users” section allows the management of Project members and guests and the permissions provided to each of them. How users are invited and are assigned permissions is described here.

How to setup and structure your work with projects

Projects are the main organisation structure in your workspace.

The content of a project consists of uploaded folders and files, or the other way round, the set of uploaded folders and files forms your project.

Currently there is no relation between files/folder in different projects nor can data be exchanged between projects.

So you should carefully evaluate how you like to structure your work, i.e. multiple unrelated projects, or a bigger one (e.g. a full survey with all related files from raw data to final reports).
